2012 is going to be an interesting year for us, a year of big changes. Well, one big change, at least, which is such a defining part of our lives that nothing will be left unaffected.
David is retiring from the Army.
Whew! A lot less money coming in, a lot more time together… It’s going to be interesting. Anyway, I made a list for 2012. Not resolutions, exactly. More like goals. Or, as Brenna said, “Mommy, that’s just a big to-do list!” Whatever.
1. Get a three month supply of food laid in according to the Food Storage Made Easy plan
2. Buy a Bosch Universal kitchen machine
3. Sell unused curriculum on ebay
4. Sell kitchenaid stuff on ebay
5. Buy a food dehydrator
6. Take a picnic lunch to Davey in the field
7. Take photographs every day
8. Sew dresses for Penny and Rosie
9. Grow enough peas to freeze
10. Paint the bedroom
11. Sew a log cabin quilt
12. Sew a polka dot quilt
13. Finish painting the kitchen
14. Write two blog posts per week
15. Clean out the extra clothes in the attic
16. Make shelves in Jonny’s closet
17. Spray paint the kitchen chairs red
18. Knit hats for everyone who didn’t get one yet
19. Knit Penny’s hat again
20. Sell a photograph I made
21. Practice piano at least two hours per week
22. Learn some Latin
23. Focus on the liturgical seasons with the kids
24. Make seasonal learning plans for the little ones
25. Take the kids on nature walks at least once a month (Jan. done!)
26. Do art projects with the children
27. Wash and dry laundry without a machine
28. Get a hand powered grain grinder
29. Can some tomatoes
30. Use the pressure cooker
31. Be patient in the kitchen with the children
32. Get a dresser for Brenna
33. Paint Tommy’s dresser and use as kitchen sideboard
34. Get a new stove
35. Raise a State Fair winning heifer
36. Find quiet time to sit down and pray or learn to pray on the go
37. Take the doors off the cupboards
38. Fry donuts once a month
39. Put up a shelf behind the woodstove
40. Breed a hefty, fast-growing chicken
41. Get rabbit operation set up
42. Get to know a particular person better
43. Make at least one gift for each occasion
44. Stick to a very strict budget

47. Get new mattresses for Brenna, Laney and Rosie
